Associate Professor Mahesh Jayaram is a Senior Psychiatrist who has over three decades of experience.

He trained in Psychiatry in London and Leeds (UK) and completed his Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004. He then worked as a consultant in the NHS for 7 years prior to moving to Melbourne in 2013. A/Prof Jayaram is now Chair of the Education Committee at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne and coordinates Australia’s largest Master of Psychiatry program.

A/Prof Jayaram’s clinical interests include the treatment of schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders, alcohol addiction, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, and sleep disorders. He is a clinician researcher and is Chief Investigator on many trials, including NHMRC / MRFF funded trials evaluating interventions for those with serious mental illness. He has obtained over $3.5 million as Chief investigator and $11 million as Associate Investigator in competitive research funding, authored > 40 peer reviewed publications and 4 book chapters. He is an invited speaker at national and international conferences.
