She has significant experienced in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and combines evidence-based care with a personalised, recovery-oriented approach that is strongly multidisciplinary-focused.

Dr Kumar is a Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) accredited supervisor actively involved in the psychiatry training program, with a particular focus on first-year registrar development and leadership for senior registrars. She is also a Senior Clinical Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, while holding senior leadership roles at Western Health, where she drives service innovation and quality improvement.
